128KB is a framework and platform for creative coding, built around a deliberately tight set of constraints: a GIF, made with code, no larger than 128 kilobytes and 128 pixels. As a work of Critical Design; drawing on the Demoscene and Permacomputing; it uses these limits to provoke questions about technological simplicity and the aesthetics that emerge from working within the given constraints. The platform showcases what people make within the rules. It also functions as a tiny social network: a minimal, working prototype designed to connect students, teachers, and media artists around the world who create under the same shared constraints.
