Interview with Aaron Myles Pereyra
“I’m driven by curiosity with code, exploring the ‘What ifs’ that arise in my process”
October 16, 2026

This week we invite Aaron Myles Pereira to talk about his process and the experience of create within the limit of 128kb.

Aaron, goes by the artist moniker MYLES, is a musician, visual artist, and creative technologist from Mumbai, India. He writes code that generates music and visuals.
1. Did you have any inspiration before creating your GIFs? If so, what was it?
Most of my inspiration comes from two main places: emulating and exploring techniques from other creative programs and translating them to openFrameworks (as I’m returning to more open-source workflows), and mimicking things I observe in nature. I’m driven by curiosity with code, exploring the ‘What ifs’ that arise in my process.
2. Did you learn something new during the process? If so, what?
So much! I finally learned how to integrate shaders with openFrameworks. I’m used to writing them but use them in my TouchDesigner workflow primarily. I learned how to make seamless loops so I can keep my animation under the 128kb limit while making it feel longer, working out the math for that was really fun. Oh also, I learned the FFMPEG command to take my png sequence and convert it into a gif lol.
3. What was the most interesting thing for you about creating within the proposed limits?
That designing for the constraint is always better than trying to fit something else into it. Starting by keeping my sketch at the 128x128px or 72x128px size makes the final outcome feel much more natural than forcing something else into it.
